Arts

Mission:

  • As a general idea, the arts encompass various forms of crafts, skills like gardening and graphic design, and even music. Comprehensively, focusing on the arts lets our community share our culture in a meaningful way that can be carried on through future generations. The overall mission of this committee is to provide a space for teaching, community-building and a creative outlet for all community members.

Goals + Objectives:

  • Hosting events that allow people to share their creativity and get others involved in building a portfolio of art and creative works that represent different aspects of Nagarathar culture (i.e. Kolam)
  • Highlight artists in our community, and showcase their work! By highlighting the interdisciplinary measure of creativity, academics, and others, can help all generations of Nagarathars to find a new hobby, or a new creative outlet. Ides for these highlights may include live information sessions on artist professions or creative trajectories, showcase cultural work, and more.
  • Different challenges that require participants to think creatively about making decorations for community holidays or events, with the opportunity to show their work on a local platform (like Instagram)
  • Generally, the objective is to engage a variety of people in our community to increase connectivity and intergenerational communication!

This is a new opportunity to showcase community engagement through creativity and art, which is a big part of our cultural background, specifically with a nod to our textiles, architecture, and colorful cuisine.

Temple Assistance

NSNA's Religion and Culture Committee has embarked on a project to look out for temples in Nagarathar villages that are short of funds to meet their operational needs. Based on the information received for such a temple, NSNA will review and come up with a funding plan to help out the same. Please request for assistance by completing the Application Form online and upload supporting documents.

Kumbabishekam Assistance

For any Nagara temple Kumbabishekam, NSNA would be donating $200 (~ Rs. 15000). In order to receive the NSNA donation please fill out the Kumbabishekam Assistance request form located here. The form may also be used to request additional monetary assistance when such temples are running short of funds for Kumbabishekam. Note, in such cases relevant documents that justify the need for additional funds would need to be attached when filling out the form here.
